The Croatian coast

The Croatian coast is one of the most indented coastline of the world.

The Republic of Croatia has a total of 1244 islands, islets, rocks and ridges. Each of them is special and interesting in their own way. Despite the modern way of life, the islands continue to cultivate their tradition and the way of life. Each island, with its history and culture, tells the story worth listening.

Central Dalmatian islands are a group of islands with the special way of life Brac, Hvar, Vis, Solta and Ciovo and many smaller islets.

BRAC – is the largest Dalmatian and the third largest Croatian island. The north coast of the island is more indented and more accessible, and even more popular. The most famous tourist destination is Bol. The beach, Zlatni rat is located on the south coast of the island. It is a unique Adriatic phenomenon as its pebble cape is about 1000 meters long, surrounded by the clear sea. Zlatni rat beach is special because it changes its shape, depending on the wind.

Supetar – is the largest tourist center in Brac, located on the north side of the island. Brac is well connected to the mainland by frequent boat lines. The island of Brac also has an airport that has an increasing importance for tourism.

The center of the island of Hvar is the city of Hvar. Hvar is a city rich with cultural and historical heritage and interesting architecture. The whole island is connected to the mainland by frequent boat and catamaran lines. It is not a problem to reach the island and enjoy the charms of Hvar.

ISLAND OF VIS – is one of the most distant Central Dalmatian islands. It is specific with its two the most famous centers: Vis and Komiza. The places of Vis conquer with their charming character. Small fishing places with stone cores, pebble beaches and lots of pines and greenery.
Inhabitants of island of Vis mainly engage in fishing, agriculture and vineyards.
In Komiza there is a museum where you can see the wooden boats where the old inhabitants of Vis used to fish.
Location of the city of Vis is in the protected bay of Sv. Jura. It has a regular ferry line to Split. There amazing archaeological sites are the testimony of history. For families with children, there are many pebble beaches just near the town of Vis.

During the summer days, bigger centers on the islands abound by entertainment programs. Often the tourists get a chance to get acquainted with gastronomy, culture of life and the rich history.

Central Dalmatian islands have an excellent position. We are sure that the Croatian part of the Adriatic has at least 1244 reasons why to escape from curious eyes into the hidden coves, let yourself get lost in its beauty..
