Split Dalmatian County divides into 3 geographical areas: hinterland, coastal area and islands.
The total surface is 14,045 km2, of which land 4572 km2.
The largest part of the total surface occupies the land (approx. 60%), while the smallest part of the surface (approx.19%) waste the islands.
According to administrative structure, it consists of 16 cities and 39 townships.
The main center of Split – Dalmatia County is the city of Split. Split is the second largest city in Croatia with about 200 000 habitats. It is also very important traffic and port center.
Tourism in Central Dalmatia started to develop rapidly after the Homeland War. The safe region, rich in natural and cultural beauty attracts guests from all over the world. That good trend has continued until today. Central Dalmatia, ie. the Split-Dalmatia County, brakes all the records by the number of visits.
Central Dalmatia, as an attractive destination, offers its visitors a unique and authentic experience. Visitors may feel the way of life and tranquility with all their senses. Central Dalmatia has tourism division into five parts:
